Our care home near Kilmarnock aims to provide residents with multiple opportunities each week that allow them to get outside and enjoy the local community. Our Activity Coordinators work hard to ensure that the social calendar is always full of exciting excursions for residents to look forward to, from trips to the local garden centre, to venturing further away to the 16th-century ruined tower house, Greenan Castle.

Residents and their guests are sure to enjoy this little slice of natural beauty, and make the most of the wonderful park, with a gallery (regularly presenting fantastic exhibitions) and an excellent tearoom; the perfect family day out. Another family favourite excursion is the multi-award winning Heads of Ayr Farm Park, which offers fun for the whole family. Awarded a Seaside Award from Keep Scotland Beautiful, and a short 10 minute walk away, Ayr Beach is a firm favourite amongst our residents and their loved ones. Made up of predominantly sand, Ayr Beach is a great location for not just traditional seaside fun, but picnics and sandcastle building and there is a huge expanse of grass for children to play on also. Prestwick Beach is accessible by car and just a 15 minute drive away; this long sandy beach boasts magnificent views of the Isle of Arran and one of the most beautiful sunsets in the west coast of Scotland. When it comes to coastal offerings, residents are truly spoiled with the exceptional beaches right on our doorstep.

Ayrshire and Arran is home to a multitude of magnificent castles, intriguing museums and historic buildings. Ayrshire boasts connections to some of Scotland’s most influential historical figures such as Robert the Bruce and has many fascinating links to the life and work of Scotland’s world acclaimed poet, Robert Burns. Ayr is proud of its cultural offering, and in particular, the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum. For residents and their friends and family who enjoy poetry, the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum allows us to become immersed into the world of Scotland’s national poet, where you can find more than 5,000 of Burns artefacts, including his handwritten manuscripts.
