Residents Enjoy Inspiring Day Out at The Burrell Collection

Recently, our residents enjoyed a memorable and educational day out to The Burrell Collection in Glasgow, following a special request from one of the home's residents.

The visit saw six residents accompanied by staff on a leisurely tour of the renowned museum, which houses over 9,000 works of art, artefacts, and historical treasures. The trip offered an exciting opportunity to explore the diverse collection and discover fascinating facts about global history, culture, and creativity.

The idea for the outing was sparked by a resident's interest in visiting the museum, and Templeton House staff were more than happy to help bring the request to life. True to the care home's commitment to person-centred care, residents are encouraged to share their interests and take part in meaningful activities that enhance their wellbeing.

The museum's peaceful setting and spacious galleries made it an ideal destination, offering residents the chance to enjoy the artwork at their own pace while engaging in conversation and reminiscence with staff and each other.

Outings like these are an important part of life at Templeton House, helping to promote social connection, cognitive stimulation, and emotional wellbeing. Being able to respond to residents' personal interests ensures each activity is not only enjoyable but also meaningful and fulfilling.

With smiles all round and plenty of new knowledge to take back home, the visit to The Burrell Collection was hailed a great success. Templeton House looks forward to organising more resident-led trips in the future as part of its enriching activity programme.
