What is Dementia Care?

If you are looking for dementia care in Ayrshire, look no further than Templeton House. We’re a luxury dementia care home in Ayr and our staff have been trained to the highest degree to provide excellent care and to support people living with dementia. We understand that depending on someone’s type of dementia, the level of assistance will vary. Dementia is a progressive neurological condition that commonly affects a person’s ability to think, rationalise and communicate like they once used to.

Our loving staff make every effort to get to know our residents with the help of family and friends in order to learn their likes, dislikes, abilities and preferences to the best of their ability. To ensure residents get the most out of each day, regular outings into the local community and in-house events are organised, as well as an exciting activities programme offered each week.

Residential Care

Residential care is a form of care that is most suitable for older people who are finding it difficult to upkeep their usual household duties or struggling to wash or dress. Residents can enjoy a social and active lifestyle, pursuing their hobbies both independently and with those who share similar interests. Residents have the opportunity to go out into the local community regularly.

Each one of our residents receives a customised care plan created for them by our qualified care team. This ensures residents are receiving appropriate levels of care and emotional support for their needs at all times. All residents can enjoy delicious home-cooked meals prepared by our in-house chef, free of household and administrative duties.

Nursing Care

Nursing care is a more advanced care service given to those who are in need of 24-hour medical care. Nursing care will benefit those who have physical disabilities, high dependency needs, learning difficulties, as well as long-term health conditions or critical illnesses, which offers residents stability during challenging times.

Our nursing home in Ayr has an expert team of nurses who will go above and beyond to provide exemplary person-centred care. Templeton House has invested in the most modern nursing equipment to aid those who are receiving nursing care. Each resident is assigned their own nurse who will get to know them on a personal level in order to meet expectations.

Respite Care

Respite care is a type of care provided on a short-term basis that is available to those who require professional assistance following an illness or operation, allowing someone to fully recover until they are ready to return to normal life. Respite care can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

Those who are caring for their loved ones can use respite care to acquire a break from their duties for a while we take care of their loved one’s needs. Prospective residents can also use respite care as a way of trialling our care home for a short while to see if it’s the right fit for them.
